Iran Announces its Full Readiness to Respond, with American Casualties Reported in Iraq Due to Shelling by the Resistance

Despite the orchestrated leaks suggesting that Washington is dissatisfied with the actions of the Israeli government and its Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, that President Joe Biden was caught off guard by the recent assassinations, and that Netanyahu’s alleged efforts aim to entangle Washington in a major war it does not desire, the U.S. Department of Defense continued to amass its forces on land, sea, and air, providing the protective umbrella requested by Netanyahu in anticipation of retaliation from Iran, Yemen, and Lebanon, as stated by Iranian and resistance leaders. The U.S. Department of Defense announced that it had achieved the utmost level of readiness to protect the Israeli state. Meanwhile, resistance forces interpreted the American rhetoric expressing displeasure with Netanyahu as a political manoeuvre intended to undermine the resistance’s and Iran’s responses while providing the Israeli state with the necessary political and security safeguards. Observers of U.S. positions questioned the meaning of American statements regarding the right to self-defence for the Israeli state following the Majdal Shams explosion. The Israeli state required little more than this rhetoric as a green light for carrying out assassinations and attacks on Beirut and Tehran. This green light was seen as a continuation of agreements made in Washington during Netanyahu’s visit, which Moscow appears to have been aware of and exposed in President Vladimir Putin’s remarks to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad during an exceptional summit with the theme of impending escalation in the region. Before the Majdal Shams explosion, the escalation had already commenced, and now we find ourselves at its core, justified by the Majdal Shams incident and American rhetoric on self-defence.
The core objective behind safeguarding the Israeli state appears to be ensuring the continued presence of American forces in Syria and Iraq, and conducting a war to solidify this occupation. Netanyahu is spearheading this conflict on behalf of the Israeli state and its government, while also acting as a proxy for Washington, much like during the 2006 Lebanon War, which Condoleezza Rice framed as a stepping stone toward a ‘New Middle East. Today, the conflict is waged with relative American silence but with broader objectives, chiefly aimed at countering the advance of Russia and China by defeating Iran and the resistance forces in the region. Previously, Washington had chosen to overlook and freeze Middle Eastern conflicts to concentrate on confronting Russia and China. Now, the dynamics of the struggle with Russia and China are being shaped by the ongoing regional conflicts.

In parallel, Arab and European diplomatic efforts have intensified in the region to translate American objectives into limiting the scope of Iran’s and the resistance forces’ anticipated responses, under the guise of urging restraint and facilitating a political resolution. Meanwhile, Iran, through the voices of its Revolutionary Guard leaders, has declared its readiness to respond and is awaiting the political decision on timing. An announcement from the Pentagon, timed intriguingly, revealed that American soldiers were injured at the Ain al-Assad base in Iraq by Iraqi resistance rockets. Additionally, The Washington Post reported that an American drone had targeted and killed a leader of Yemen’s Ansarullah movement, known for his expertise in drone operations, while he was in Baghdad coordinating with Iraqi resistance forces.
